Labor Law

Defending and advancing the rights of employees and labor unions is the heart of what we do. Our commitment to labor is reflected in our long history of comprehensive representation of unions and their members – and in our own staff, who are proud members of UFCW Local 555.

Our Labor and Employment practice group has considerable experience advocating for numerous national, statewide and local labor organizations in Oregon and Washington. These unions represent members in fields as diverse as education, public safety, the paper industry, and service employees. We have advised and represented unions and their members in collective bargaining, union organizing and elections, public sector labor disputes, grievance arbitrations, interest arbitrations, representation before the Oregon Employee Relations Board and the National Labor Relations Board.

Our years of experience have led us to develop a common sense approach to disputes with management, utilizing our expertise in a manner that is very cost-effective to the union. We excel in out-of-court solutions, but we can be aggressive and effective litigators if the need arises. We have represented union members in suits under the Fair Labor Standards Act and other employment laws, and we have filed successful class action lawsuits on behalf of employees and pension recipients.

We also represent individual and coalitions of labor organizations on matters of joint concern relating to election laws, the Oregon Public Employees Retirement System (PERS), and other litigation.
