Fred Meyer Pays $6.6 Million to Settle Wage Claims

Courts in Oregon and Washington approved class action settlements on behalf of Fred Meyer employees.

In 2022, Bennett Hartman attorneys filed the class action lawsuits after Fred Meyer implemented a faulty payroll system that caused widespread pay errors. The lawsuit in Oregon was brought by Fred Meyer employees who worked in Medford, Salem, and Portland. A second lawsuit was brought by an employee who worked at the Fred Meyer in Hazel Dell, Washington. Each of them had missing paychecks or were underpaid wages after Fred Meyer implemented its new payroll system.

Fred Meyer ultimately agreed to settle the claims for a total of $6.6 million. A judge in the U.S. District Court of Oregon approved the settlement affecting Oregon employees. A judge in King County Superior Court approved the settlement affecting Washington employees. Funds will be disbursed to more than 40,000 members of the class in Oregon and Washington.
