We are sad to report that our dear friend, mentor, and law partner, Bob Bennett, passed away on Feb. 19, 2018.
Bob was born Aug. 29, 1931 in Heppner, Oregon. He received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Oregon in 1954, and then served two years with the U.S. Army Armored Combat Training Center in Fort Irwin, Calif. Bob graduated from the University of Oregon Law School in 1960 and joined our law firm (then known as Lenon & Willner), where he practiced for 47 years, until 2007.
Bob served on the Oregon State Bar Board of Governors, Multnomah Bar Association and Professional Liability Fund, and was an early president of the Oregon Trial Lawyers Association in 1972-73. In 2000 he was the first recipient of what is now called Robert A. Bennett Professionalism Award from the Oregon Academy of Family Law Practitioners.
Bob practiced labor law, family law, and a little bit of everything else. His legal acumen was matched by his kindness, humor, wisdom, and professionalism that he extended toward clients, partners, and staff alike. The universal affection and respect for Bob is the reason that our firm bears his name to this day.
